Cannabis tourism in Barcelona

Cannabis tourism in Barcelona with Terpy

Amsterdam was the capital of cannabis. WAS.
In recent years, the drive and passion of Barcelona’s cannabis sector have turned the
city into the world’s ultimate destination. The Catalan Club model (CSC), the climate and
the quality of the product are the key factors behind this success.

Not forgetting the boost provided by Spannabis, the largest cannabis fair in Europe,
which was held for years in Cornellà (since 2025 it has taken place in Bilbao) and has made us a benchmark
worldwide.

Why visit Barcelona as a cannabis destination?

The Cannabis Social Club model is unique in the world. A model that
seeks to create a social space where members can come together
around a shared passion.

The climate helps too. The mild temperatures and the charm of Barceloneta beach
in winter have a lot to do with it. Here, Mediterranean cuisine, culture, design,
modernisme and cannabis come together.

Barcelona and cannabis, a long relationship

What’s more, while sightseeing, you’ll notice that Barcelona’s relationship with
cannabis goes back many years.

For example, for centuries hemp was the fibre used to make ships’ ropes and
sails, including in the time of Christopher Columbus, whose statue is one of the
most visited tourist spots in the city.

Don’t miss the Terpy side of Barcelona! To help you have an
amazing experience on your visit, we’ve created the Terpy Tour. A map of the most
Terpy spots in the city, which you can find at the club. Munchies, culture, nightlife and
soooo much more!

What you should know if you're visiting Barcelona

Barcelona's cannabis clubs are not coffee shops or shops: they are private, non-profit associations that only their members can enter. To become a member you need to be of legal age, show your original ID card or passport and, at many clubs, have an invitation from a member. Each association has its own rules, so it's worth finding out beforehand. We explain it all in detail in our guide to rules for foreigners in cannabis clubs.

Why you shouldn't consume on the street

The fact that clubs exist doesn't mean cannabis can be consumed anywhere. In Spain, using or carrying cannabis in public places is an administrative offence under Ley Orgánica 4/2015, with fines starting at 601 €. Buying on the street isn't a good idea either: besides being illegal, you don't know what you're being sold. The sensible thing is to enjoy cannabis only inside a club, privately and responsibly.

What to see in the Raval

If you're staying in the centre, the Raval is one of Barcelona's liveliest neighbourhoods: museums such as the MACBA, streets full of history and a huge range of bars and restaurants with cuisines from all over the world. We share ideas for exploring the area in our guide to things to do in the Raval.

How to get to Terpy

Terpy Flavors Gallery is at Carrer de Valldonzella, 30, next to the MACBA and a few minutes' walk from Universitat metro station (L1/L2). If you'd like to get to know our cannabis club in the Raval, check how to get to the club and bring your original ID card or passport.
