Many people arriving in the city for the first time are curious about how the clubs work, what the process is for becoming a member and what rules govern access. So it's no surprise that one of the most frequently asked questions about cannabis clubs is precisely how they work in practice. At Terpy, our cannabis club in the Raval, we answer these questions every day, and we know how important it is to get clear, reliable information.

Interest in cannabis in Barcelona isn’t a passing fad but an established movement committed to normalising responsible consumption. More and more people are looking for a safe, private space with the right atmosphere to enjoy cannabis culture with peace of mind. Barcelona offers that unique model of private associations, and we social clubs are an active part of it.

However, we also understand that accessing clubs can be a bit of a challenge, especially for those who have never visited one before. That's why, before even taking the first step, it's essential to have a clear idea of how a private club in Barcelona really works and what you can expect when you join Terpy.

How access to cannabis clubs in Barcelona works

Cannabis clubs are part of a private and regulated system, which means that entry is not free to anyone who walks through the door. In the case of Terpy, this model not only ensures a peaceful and respectful environment, but also guarantees responsible consumption based on membership registration.

A model based on private access

To understand this system properly, it is important to clarify that the clubs in Barcelona do not operate as shops, dispensaries or businesses open to the public. We operate under an associative format that implies several essential requirements:

Access must be granted to persons of legal age.

It is compulsory to identify yourself and register as a member.

It is necessary to accept the internal rules and the functioning of the club.

In this way, access to Terpy does not depend on whether you are a tourist, student or resident. The important thing is to comply with the conditions, apply correctly and understand that the club acts as a private space, not as a place of sale or open consumption.

Why this model guarantees security

This system is designed to protect members and provide a controlled environment. Thanks to this, you can consume cannabis without worrying about external legal problems, sanctions or uncomfortable situations. It also prevents consumption in public spaces, where there are clear restrictions.

This is one of the reasons why so many people ask us how a cannabis club in Barcelona works: the model is unique and effective, and Terpy applies it so that each member enjoys the experience in the best possible way.

Requirements for joining as a member of Terpy Barcelona

One of the most repeated doubts among those arriving in the city has to do with the access requirements. And it is logical: although access is simple, it is important to do it correctly.

What you need to become a member

At Terpy we work with a simple and clear registration process. To join our club you need:

Be of legal age.

Present valid identification (passport, ID card or residence permit).

Complete the membership registration in our club.

Contrary to what many believe, nationality is not a problem. Whether you are a permanent resident or just passing through Barcelona, you can become a member as long as you meet the requirements and respect the way the club operates.

Do I need an invitation or a recommendation?

This is another of the most frequently asked questions about cannabis clubs in Barcelona. In our case, the answer is yes: a referral or prior application is part of the process. This allows us to keep responsible control over access and ensure the club works as a private space for registered members.

Legality of cannabis use in Barcelona

The legal issue is often one of the main doubts, and this is quite normal. Cannabis is regulated in Barcelona under a model that clearly distinguishes between public and private consumption.

Where it is legal to consume

Consuming cannabis in public spaces is not allowed. That’s why cannabis clubs exist as a private and safe alternative. Terpy offers that private, registered setting, where consumption on the premises is governed by the club’s internal rules.

Is it legal to buy cannabis in a club?

Here it is important to clarify an important point: clubs do not sell cannabis to the public as if they were shops. The legal model is based on private contributions between club members. This is why it is understood as a space for consumption in a closed and regulated environment, not as a shop open to customers.

Transport and consumption outside the club

Although you can consume inside, we do not advise you to take cannabis outside the club. The regulations in Barcelona are clear in this regard: consumption must take place in authorised private spaces.

Internal rules and functioning within the club

At Terpy we have standards designed to protect the member and ensure a responsible experience.
