Here\u2019s our tour of the neighbourhood.<\/p>\n<h2>MACBA and Pla\u00e7a dels \u00c0ngels<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art<\/strong> It is housed in a white building that has become an icon of the neighbourhood. Its square, Pla\u00e7a dels \u00c0ngels, is a meeting place for skaters from all over the world.<\/p>\n<h2>CCCB<\/h2>\n<p>Next to it is the <strong>Barcelona Centre for Contemporary Culture<\/strong>, featuring exhibitions, film series and discussions. It\u2019s well worth taking a look at the programme.<\/p>\n<h2>Former Hospital of the Holy Cross<\/h2>\n<p>A Gothic complex that served as a hospital for centuries and now houses the Biblioteca de Catalunya. Its inner garden, with its orange trees, is one of the most peaceful spots in the city centre.<\/p>\n<h2>Rambla del Raval and Botero\u2019s cat<\/h2>\n<p>La Rambla del Raval is wide and lined with terraces. At the end of it, you\u2019ll find the <strong>Gat<\/strong>, Fernando Botero\u2019s large sculpture of a cat, one of the neighbourhood\u2019s classic photos.<\/p>\n<h2>Sant Pau del Camp<\/h2>\n<p>A small Romanesque church, one of the oldest in Barcelona, with a beautiful cloister. It\u2019s surprising to find it right in the heart of the neighbourhood.<\/p>\n<h2>La Boqueria and La Rambla<\/h2>\n<p>The Raval neighbourhood stretches as far as La Rambla, where the <strong>La Boqueria Market<\/strong>. Go in the morning to avoid the crowds.<\/p>\n<h2>Tips for visiting the Raval<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep an eye on your belongings: as in the rest of the city centre, there are pickpockets.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t buy anything from street vendors, and certainly not cannabis: not only is it illegal, but you don\u2019t know what you\u2019re getting.<\/li>\n<li>Consuming cannabis in public places is a criminal offence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to get there<\/h2>\n<p>The nearest stops are <strong>University<\/strong> (L1 and L2) and <strong>Liceu<\/strong> o <strong>St Anthony<\/strong>.
